Judge Pauline Hankins of Bolivia, North Carolina, has announced she is seeking re-election to the seat she currently holds as a District Court Judge serving Brunswick, Bladen and Columbus Counties. "Judge Hankins is an outstanding jurist who exhibits true judicial temperament on the bench while rendering fair and just decisions" said Senior Resident Superior Court Judge Ola Lewis. "Judge Hankins' commitment to the rule of law and to the fine citizens of this district is above reproach," Lewis continued, making reference to Judge Hankins' work in the local High Schools.
High School students are given the opportunity to hear about real life outcomes for those who choose to engage in criminal activity. "As a Defense Attorney for juveniles accused of breaking the law it was so disheartening to represent a young person who did not realize the legal ramifications of stealing a phone charger from WalMart" said Hankins. "With this in mind, I created a program which allows me to engage students by sharing the consequences of behaviors they may feel are 'cool', or may feel peer pressure to become a part of."
Judge Hankins' community involvement extends to her church, Love of Christ, and her political affiliation as Diversity Chair for the Brunswick County GOP. She is also an active member of the Republican Women's Club.
"We are very fortunate to have Judge Hankins serving as a District Court Judge" says local attorney Mike Ramos. "No doubt she is a tough judge and keeps us on our toes! And though she may not rule in my favor on every occasion, Judge Hankins is willing to hear and carefully consider views from both sides. Her 20 years of experience is well grounded in her excellent reputation for compassion and humility" Ramos concluded. "I look forward to continuing my tenure on the bench and with the support of the wonderful people of the Thirteenth Judicial District, I will remain a steadfast presence in system of justice" Hankins said as she prayerfully collapsed her hands.
